The costs of arbitration are comprised of: the administrative expenses, the arbitration expenses and the arbitrators’ fees
The LIAC-BBA determines the Administrative Fee and the fees of the arbitral tribunal in cases conducted under the LIAC-BBA rules based on the amount in dispute.
LIAC-BBA cost calculator
The LIAC-BBA cost calculator provides the amount of the Administrative Fee and an estimate of the fees of the arbitral tribunal without value added tax. The costs indicated by the LIAC-BBA cost calculator do not include the legal fees of the parties or possible negotiation rooms, travel or other expenses incurred by the arbitral tribunal.
Filing Fee
The amount of the Filing Fee payable in connection with a Request for Arbitration or counterclaim is the following:
USD 750 per payment in cases conducted under the Arbitration Rules of the LIAC-BBA
If the parties have agreed to apply a version of the LIAC-BBA rules that is not the most recent version of the rules in force from time to time, please check the correct amount of the Filing Fee from the version of the rules applicable to the dispute.
The Filing Fee is subject to VAT.
The Filing Fee is non-refundable even if a claim is withdrawn or the arbitration is terminated on other grounds. The Filing Fee(s) paid in the case constitute a part of the LIAC-BBA Administrative Fee and shall be credited to the respective party’s share of the advance on costs fixed by the LIAC-BBA.

Administrative Fees
The administrative expenses shall be determined based on the amount in dispute in accordance with appendix (1) of the LIAC-BBA Rules.
The amount in dispute shall be the aggregate value of all claims, counterclaims and set-offs.
Where the amount in dispute cannot be ascertained, the Center shall determine the administrative expenses according to the circumstances of each case.
The maximum amount of which shall not exceed 50 000 USD (fifty thousand American Dollars)
In exceptional cases, the Center may deviate from the amounts set out at appendix 1 after consulting with the Higher Arbitration Council upon referral by the Director.
Arbitrators Fees
Arbitrators’ Fees. LIAC-BBA fixes the tribunal’s fees pursuant to its Fee Schedule and administers their collection via an advance on costs determined by the Secretariat. Arbitrators’ fees compensate the tribunal’s work throughout the case and are separate from (i) the LIAC-BBA administrative fees and (ii) the tribunal’s expenses, which are reimbursed in addition. For planning, parties may consult the LIAC-BBA cost calculator to obtain an estimate of tribunal fees; applicable taxes (including VAT, if any) may be added.
Advance on costs
The LIAC-BBA will fix an advance on costs in all arbitrations conducted under its rules. The advance on costs is intended to cover the costs of the arbitration.
Parties will be required to pay an advance on costs or their share thereof at the initial stages of the arbitration.
Any amount paid by the parties as an advance on costs that exceeds the costs of the arbitration determined by the LIAC-BBA, will be reimbursed to the parties in the same proportions in which the advance on costs was paid.
If the advance on costs is insufficient to cover the costs of the arbitration as determined by the LIAC-BBA, the parties are liable to pay the remaining amount.
Fixing of the advance on costs
The Director may require the parties to pay half of the advance on costs before the signature of the terms of reference.
The terms of reference shall have no effect and the claims as well as the counterclaims shall not be submitted to the arbitral tribunal unless the parties have paid the total advance on administrative fees and expenses decided by the Center.
Fee for the appointment of arbitrator(s) to ad hoc arbitration
The fee for the appointment of arbitrator(s) to an ad hoc arbitration is USD 3 000. The fee is non-refundable.
